CAN 3
Accessible Art and Placemaking
This project explores how accessible art can transform public spaces for people of all abilities. Using creative methods such as community walks, artists and urban planners with lived experience of disability co-created inclusive public art in Toronto’s Bloor Annex and Cabbagetown. These activities generated creative pieces including audio narratives and tactile maps that highlight accessibility challenges and possibilities. Insights from surveys, interviews, and roundtables informed the Accessible Art and Placemaking Toolkit, offering models and recommendations to guide equitable, inclusive placemaking for diverse communities.
