Roots and Futures: Scaling Up and Sustaining Co-produced, Place-based Heritage with Underserved Communities
This project is a place-based heritage project in Sheffield that supports underserved communities to shape heritage practice and policy. Through Roots and Future workshops, participants co-created insights on barriers and opportunities for engagement while contributing photos and drawings to the Your Sheffield Map. These creative pieces of data expanded the city’s shared history and informed new models of representation. Outcomes include a digital exhibition, a detailed project report, and a free interactive web app that visualizes Sheffield’s diverse heritage. Together, these outputs highlight inclusive approaches to heritage strategy, centering the voices of historically underrepresented communities.
