CAN 9
Bridge project from Jack & Jean Leslie RiverWalk Murals
This project engaged 13 East Village residents through collaborative mask-making workshops. Participants selected from a series of portrait paintings and, working with the artist, transformed them into personalized masks. Creative pieces including portrait paintings, photographs, artistic face masks, and public art murals captured personal stories and community identity. Photographs of participants wearing their masks in local spaces were later transformed into large-scale murals along the RiverWalk. The project highlights collaborative artmaking as a tool for placemaking, fostering connection, and embedding community voices in Calgary’s public realm.
