First Waves
Initiated by UK Parliament and led by artist Scarlet Crawford, First Waves explores the impact and legacy of race relations legislation in the UK. Workshops (including in Nottingham and Leeds) explored the rich, nuanced and fraught history of race relations, and aimed to voice the lived experiences of older residents, supporting them to share their stories and engage in discussions about policy and legislation. Artworks created by community members include photographic portraits, an installation of objects and an audio soundscape. An Audio artwork comprised of recordings of the workshops was created.
