The Countdown Public Art Project
The Countdown Public Art project led by ReDefine Arts applied a mixed participatory methods approach to engage communities in creating public art monuments (pebble mosaic designs) in public places to honour those affected by gender-based violence. Data such as video, audio, photos, anecdotes, and other qualitative information collected from surveys, interviews, focus groups, and other activities were mobilised as key findings and models for community-engaged art making in the final evaluation report. This project conducted a series of collaborative design and arts workshops of mosaic creation and monoprinting, digital story creation and presentation, arts mentorships, and commemorative unveiling events to support participants to build on and deepen their connection to the arts through engagement in community arts.
